Congratulations to Tori James who has just climbed to the summit of Mount Everest 8,848 meters above sea level. She is a fellow member of the British Schools Exploring Society and is climbing with a team from the London School of Business. At 23 she is the youngest female Briton and first Welsh woman to have successfully made it to the top.

We have just heard that another member of the British Schools Exploring Society has made it to the top of Everest! Sundeep Dhillon summitted from the south side at 6.30am on the 23rd (Nepal time) and will now be making his way back down. Sundeep is a BSES committee member and was on a different expedition to Tori. They were attempting to make the first ever measurement of the level of oxygen in human blood at that altitude. More information about his expedition can be found at http://www.xtreme-everest.co.uk/.
And now a third member of BSES has reached the summit! It must be like Picadilly Circus up there this season!
Ben Stephens reached the summit yesterday morning. He was a member of the same Everest expedition as Tori.
I wish I had seen the chance of opportunities like this after my Scandinavian Arrctic BSES Expedition in 1961, but work beckoned at the time.
I've often watched specials on television about climbing Everest. What an accomplishment! Very scary though. Look forward to reading you on Helium. Enjoy your journey.
